SpectraLinear Introduces Fully Integrated Clock Solution to Cut Power Consumption Up to 40 Percent

Santa Clara, CA – April 5, 2007 – SpectraLinear Inc., a leading provider of timing solutions for the consumer, computer and communication markets, today introduced the fully integrated CY28548 clock generator that can achieve up to 40% lower power consumption compared to previous-generation products. The CY28548 is optimized to support the latest Intel^® notebook PC platform (code-named “Santa Rosa”). The new device supports I/O voltage from 3.3V to as low as 1.05V, which can result in significant power savings. It also has integrated regulator and integrated series termination resistors on differential clocks, which helps to eliminate the external circuitry and more than 20 resistors that would otherwise be required for generating VDD_I/O.

“Our customers—especially notebook PC customers—can really benefit from this fully integrated solution, which reduces external components and eases board layout,” said Elie Ayache, SpectraLinear’s General Manager of APAC Operations. “The CY28548 has been very well received by our customers for its outstanding performance and reduced power consumption,” added Mr. Ayache.

The CY28548 is hardware/software compatible with the Intel^® CK505 specification. It supports two CPU clocks, up to 11 SRC clocks, 6 PCI clocks, 1 USB clock, 1 REF clock and DOT, LCD and 27 MHz video clocks. The CY28548 is available for order now in both 64-pin TSSOP package and 64-pin QFN package.
